The first Teachers’ Day Portal was conceptualised during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a means to provide opportunities for students and the general public to send messages of appreciation to educators, in a time where physical school events was restricted.
Even as the pandemic tapered off in 2022, and face-to-face Teachers’ Day celebrations were possible again, we wanted to keep up the momentum this year to celebrate all the work that the education fraternity had put in over the last few challenging years. The third edition of the Teachers’ Day Portal had a key feature – the introduction of 3-D Augmented Reality stickers embedded in e-Cards that could be virtually gifted to members of the teaching fraternity and shared with the public through the portal. Overall, more than 21,000 messages were received.
The portal also presented a collection of inspiring stories of teaching and non-teaching staff. With the opening of the new MOE Heritage Centre, we also produced content – a walk down memory lane – to commemorate the contributions of past and current generations of educators.
